Museum Houses of Milan
Year:

casemuseomilano490.jpg

Every house holds within it the story of those who live there, revealing their habits, their tastes, and the contexts in which their lives play out. But some homes, precisely because of the particular people who have lived there, have special value and unusual stories to tell. Milan, among its many riches, boasts a heritage of four house-museums through which it is able to narrate its own recent history. These are the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, the Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano, the Museo Poldi Pezzoli, and the Villa Necchi Campiglio. The visitor who discovers and explores these homes enters the world of the master of the house, the domestic staff, and the wealth that is expressed through the decor and the choice of objects on display.

To coincide with the restoration and opening to the public of the Villa Necchi Campiglio, which was carried out by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano ("Foundation for the Italian Environment"), the four house-museums decided to create a joint itinerary for visitors, with a single ticket valid for entry to all of the houses at a convenient price.

Moleskine has participated in this cultural project by producing a Milan City Notebook, with customized maps showing the addresses of all four museums and with a leaflet telling the stories of the houses and of those who lived in them.

Museum Houses of Milan: an itinerary that provides an in-depth look at the different identities of a city.
